HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-eh1000 (2H5A6AV) Got a brand new HP laptop with latest BIOS installed. I tried booting Linux - Puppy, Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora - all have the same issue - "The selected boot device failed." Used Rufus to make the USB and tried both MRB and GPT. Disabled Secure Boot. Tried both USB ports. None of this worked.
You need to create Windows install media that supports UEFI. You download the ISO file from MS, then use the freeware RUFUS utility to create the USB stick. That stick should then show up in the UEFI boot devices.
My new notebook HP Pavilion g6-2257sr don't let me to boot from USB device. When notebook's booting, I pressed ESC and F10. Then I set up UFEI boot order - USB-device / DVD / OS selector. I use official Windows 7 disk, and several own USB devices with bootable images. But rebboting use hard drive's OS all the same.
Tried Legacy/UEFI. No effect. UEFI boots a black screen, sometimes. I've run grub-install from the rescue disk, in another machine, after booting with EFI file (see below). No effect. Still 3f0. Minutes ago, I've just discovered the HP BIOS option "Boot From File", where the disk is identified, some "EFI" directory, and some ".efi" file

06-08-2017 02:01 PM. Product: HP ProBook x360 11 G1 EE. Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) We have 75 (probook x360 11 g1 EE) that will not network boot. We have checked in the BIOS and are unable to locate the legacy boot option on these laptops. Please assist and point us in the right direction.
Connect the USB flash drive to the PC or laptop. Power on the device. During the BIOS initialization phase, press ESC/F12 to bring up the list of boot devices (here is a handy list of hotkeys covering most vendors ). Select the USB flash drive from the list. Windows setup starts and takes you through the installation.
